Speaking in Kirinyaga on Wednesday, April 1, at the funeral of former Kirinyaga senator Daniel Karaba, the president pointed out that Kenyan politicians have collapsed by attacking each other instead of discussing the issues that bother Kenyans.

“Kenyans want leaders, they don’t want politics and insults. The country needs leaders with integrity and principles, not those who serve themselves. Kenyans want direction and leadership that will lead them to cross the other side. Let’s put aside selfishness and know that we are in those offices to serve Kenyans,” he said.

Uhuru, in a statement that seemed to target the former vice president Rigathi Gachaguasaid that Kenyans hate leaders who thrive through ethnic politics and ethnic hatred.

He encouraged unity to cross political boundaries so that the country can move forward towards success.

“Let’s unite. That’s what the late Raila Odinga and I wanted. What we sincerely wanted was for this country to be united, to be together, and to be guided by policies and principles, not on the basis of ethnicity or ethnic hatred,” he said.

Uhuru’s speech came a few days after the President William Ruto and the opposition engage in a fierce war of words.

Last month, the president spent most of his time during his working visit to Western Kenya attacking opposition leaders.

Ruto turned for a moment from his usual progressive approach and entered into a direct confrontation, setting aside his development agenda and launching an attack on his opponents.

What started as a development-oriented visit quickly turned into heated debates.

While in Cheptais, Bungoma County, he let go of his restraints and made strong remarks aimed directly at his critics.

He referred to the opposition leaders as fools, murderers, frauds, frauds, and thieves, issuing a series of insults that portrayed them as totally unfit for leadership.

Trying to express his anger, the president said that the opposition leaders provoked him, which caused his strong reaction.

He insisted that he will face his opponents head on, even if it means getting involved in controversial debates.

His desire to attack opposition leaders in their style has sparked calls for his ouster, with critics claiming he has undermined the dignity of the presidency.

He defended his harsh remarks against the opposition, saying that he was only responding to the aggression initiated by his opponents.

Ruto emphasized that he had given them a taste of their own methods while also giving advice on healthy living.

Speaking to the crowd in Funyula, County kissRuto said that if the opposition’s agenda concerns him, he is ready to confront them directly.
