The two politicians were seen together during the funeral of former Kirinyaga senator Daniel Karaba on Wednesday, April 1, where they seemed to have a friendly conversation despite earlier rumors about their relationship being strained.

Photos from the event showed Uhuru and Gachagua shaking hands and sitting together, exchanging casual conversations that signaled the easing of tension between them.

During the event, Gachagua praised Uhuru for his leadership, indicating dissatisfaction with the current government under the President William Ruto. He also confirmed their close relationship by referring to Uhuru as his elder brother.

On his part, Uhuru referred to past political events and asked leaders to listen to the people. His statements were interpreted as a political allusion, fueling speculation about a change of coalitions in the run-up to the 2027 elections.

The apparent rift between the leaders quickly attracted public attention, with Kenyans online debating its political implications.

Samidoh he contributed to the discussion by re-sharing a photo of the two talking briefly at the funeral, expressing his delight at the event.

“Gikuyu remains the same,” he wrote, a statement that many interpreted as a sign of unity among the leaders of Mount Kenya.

Media presenter Muthoni wa Kirumba also responded with a celebratory message:

“Aww Tubaba Twangu, tustrawberry twa murima! Mwaaa, what a good way to end the Holy week,” he wrote.

Did Kithure Kindiki forgive Rigathi Gachagua?

In other news, the Deputy President Kithur Kindiki he said he had forgiven Gachagua after several months of public tension and ridicule.

Kindiki explained that, as an elder of Njuri Ncheke, he is obliged to maintain peace and avoid insults or conflicts with his fellow leaders.

He said he has no grudge against his colleagues in the leadership, insisting that political differences should not exceed unity and live together for a long time.
