The Secretary General of the UDA, Hassan Omar, indicated that the former president is interested in seeing Ruto lose, claiming that he is funding the opposition to weaken the government of Kenya First.
Speaking at the UDA headquarters on Tuesday, March 31, when issuing nomination certificates to the party’s candidates for the May 14 by-election, Omar claimed that Uhuru is making great efforts to block the current government’s agenda for political interests.

According to Omar, Uhuru failed during his leadership and cannot bear to see a successful administration after him, that is why there are efforts to show the government in a negative light.
He said not only that Uhuru aims to undermine the government, but also the ruling party.
He referred to the Isiolo South parliamentary by-election where the party Jubilee Party associated with Uhuru tried to stop the candidate from opposing the brother of the UDA candidate.
Jubilee nominated Bina Tubi against his brother Mohamed Tubi. The UDA candidate won to replace their late father, Tubi Bidu Mohamed.
“There is this man called Uhuru Kenyatta. He tried to sabotage South Isiolo, that is Uhuru Kenyatta. Where was he for these isolated areas that he could not serve as president, until now he wants to intervene as a retired president,” said Omar.
The Secretary General continued to claim that Uhuru is funding the opposition, which he said has been spreading propaganda against Ruto and using baseless concepts to cover the work of the current government.
He noted that while the government continues to implement its agenda, the opposition has used propaganda and incorrect information to tarnish its image.
“Today he has created an opposition structure by trying to be a benefactor, thinking he can undo the success achieved by this government. His people are publicly predicting the death of SHA within six months,” he said.

Omar’s comments came a few weeks after Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, criticized Uhuru for continuing to participate in politics despite his retirement.

Speaking at a political meeting in Kabaras, Kakamega county, Farouk claimed that the former president is secretly funding opposition activities against the government.
He referred to Linda Mwananchi’s meetings organized by the Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna together with a group of rebels from ODM, claiming that Uhuru is using the opposition to undermine his successor.
Farouk claimed that the former president is not satisfied with the progress implemented by Ruto and is sending money to finance political campaigns which, in his view, divide Kenyans.
He warned that the government will take steps to block the funds, stressing that divisive politics will not be tolerated.
At the same time, Uhuru Kenyatta has been insisting on the revival of the Jubilee Party, amid the plans of the former Interior Minister Fred Matiang’i to run for the presidency.
The party is collaborating with other opposition stakeholders in a broad strategy to remove William Ruto from power in 2027.
