Rachel Ruto reveals that the White House holds vigils on Fridays every week

Speaking in an interview with CBN News while on a visit to the United States for a high-level meeting organized by the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump, focused on empowering children, Rachel opened up about her journey to Christianity and the role of faith in leadership.

Rachel explained that prayer has been the basis of President Ruto’s political journey, noting that religious gatherings are held in various government offices, including the State House.

“The leadership loves God. We have prayers in public and private offices. Sometimes you can pass by and see people in the park praying in groups. Even in the White House, we have prayers all night, we call vigil,” he said.

Rachel added that Kenya’s leadership gets strength from their faith, saying this has contributed to helping the country deal with challenges like drought.

He also related the country’s economic development to Christian values, stressing that putting God at the center of leadership is important.

“I think it is because of the love of God. For the nation to have economic development, it must put God at the center of everything,” he said.

He recalled a time when prayers helped the country overcome a severe drought saying:

“When my husband was president in 2022, it was a time when the nation was going through a severe drought. No one knew what to do, the church was praying and the government was distributing food. On February 14, 2023, we prayed in one of the largest squares. We prayed and repented to God and asked him to give us rain and food. One month later, the rains started to fall and have never stopped since then. Now we have food security.”

Did William Ruto pray for Harambee Stars?

President William Ruto was very happy after Harambee Stars win against Zambia at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday, August 17 during the CHAN 2024 tournament.

After the victory, Dennis Itumbi shared a video showing the president talking to the players in the dressing room, where they shared a happy moment after the match.

In the clip, Ruto was seen praying for the team as they began preparations for their next match.
