Kalonzo made the announcement on Tuesday, March 31, during an opposition party meeting in Kathonzweni, Makueni county.
Komboa’s visit to Kenya, including leaders such as the former vice president Rigathi Gachaguaformer attorney general Justin Muturi, and DAP-Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, started his five-day journey on Monday, March 30.
Citing economic and health challenges, the group has reiterated its commitment to ensure that the President William Ruto serves only one term.
Why did Kalonzo Musyoka stop Komboa’s visit to Kenya?
Addressing supporters, Kalonzo said the team will stop touring for two days due to Easter celebrations, starting Friday, April 3.
“We are suspending the tour for two days. Friday we planned to be in Machakos, but because it will be the day Jesus was crucified and most of our people from Machakos are members of the Catholic Church, we have agreed to suspend the tour that day as well. We are suspending Kitui and Machakos. We will soon announce the dates we will start again,” he said.
The former vice president also said that the decision will allow them to stand in solidarity with the Gikomba Market traders who suffered from the night demolition that caused property damage.
“At 10 in the morning, the Ruto administration demolished the Gikomba Market in the dark. There was no warning. There was no dignity. It was just rubble. The traders woke up with nothing: their livelihood, goods, and their future, all lost. A government that destroys its citizens does not deserve to lead them. It must go,” announced Kalonzo.

Why was Gikomba Market demolished?
At the same time, the demolition was done by the government after the traders failed to move from the riparian land following the notice that ended on March 30.
The government said the relocation was to facilitate the construction of a modern market as well as a flood control measure.
However, Rigathi Gachagua described the action as cruel, claiming that William Ruto was upset by the call of “wantam”.
What did Millicent Omanga say about the demolition of Gikomba?
At the same time, former senator Millicent Omanga condemned the move to demolish the market, saying it was a source of livelihood for thousands of Kenyans.
Omanga regretted supporting the current administration in the 2022 election, claiming that he was led to believe that it would protect small businesses.
According to the politician, he rejected William Ruto’s nomination to join the Nairobi Water Commission after realizing that the administration was not protecting the livelihood of the people.
The politician, who is now siding with the DCP, apologized for ignoring warnings before the last election.
