There were allegations that Opiyo had tutored Mary until she graduated before spitting on her, allegations that MP Milly Odhiambo closed.
Is Mary Claire dead?
Sonko, in a conversation with Mary’s brother, vowed to fight for her until she gets the justice she deserves.
“We will give him protection, not care about him. We defend rights especially for those who are oppressed,” said Sonko.
His brother, Daniel Odongo, also gave an update on his health and admitted that he was still being monitored.

“He has improved a lot. The skin is drying. Our concern is the eye. I spoke to the ophthalmologist who is supposed to see him. You know the acid also entered the mouth, so because under the lips there is usually water so it does not heal quickly,” said Mary’s brother.
He also claimed that his 23-year-old sister has died and claimed that Opiyo is the one spreading the rumor through people online.
Sonko also said that he is not bothered by people who claim that he stands with women who are abused and he does not say anything about men.
“When the time comes for politics, we know where to get votes. We are not making this a political thing. You have not heard me saying that I am looking for votes in Nyanza or where you are from. I am doing my job,” he added.
Sonko also helped Daniel get a lawyer, identified as Elizabeth Ochieng who will take up the case courtesy of the former governor.
