Nderiru’s wealth issues became a public concern after the President William Ruto accusing Rigathi of grabbing his late brother’s property and depriving his family.

The late governor’s family urged Ruto to intervene in a major inheritance dispute involving a contested will.

They claim the document was a forgery which was allegedly executed while the former governor was too ill to understand legal issues and accused close relatives of using political influence to rob them of their inheritance.

How was Nderitu Gachagua’s wealth distributed?

In an interview with African, Rigathi insisted that everything was done legally and accused the president of interfering in their family affairs.

“It is over. It is a closed matter. There is nothing left. Everything has been resolved. Everyone has been given money and everyone has received it. No one has ever complained. It is now nine years since he died. Why has this happened suddenly? It is William Ruto who is talking. He is not a member of our family and that is not his job. His job is to take care of Kenya. If there is a problem in any family in Kenya, they have a way to solve their conflicts. And he is not in my family. He is the one who interferes in our family. He is the one who tries to bribe people in my family to cause strife,” he said.

The DCP Party leader also revealed how they distributed the money and quelled allegations that he took what belonged to his late brother’s family.

“If you remember, all the famous families have been fighting in court for years. The Gachagua family has never fought in court. His will was the best. He made sure he took care of everyone. He left my late mother alive 5%, he left me 5%, his two wives 5%, his other women he had, he left property to their children. None of his brothers or sisters ever complained. And you never see our versions in the newspapers. Whenever you hear about the Gachaguas, it’s from politicians, not family members. We will write to the president and tell him to stop, they should have, but they didn’t.
