Mohamed Salah has officially announced that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 season, drawing the curtain on a glittering nine years that transformed him into one of the Premier League’s greatest players.

The 33-year-old Egyptian king shared the emotional news in a heartfelt video posted on his social media on Tuesday, March 24.

Speaking directly to fans, Salah gave a touching farewell message:

“Hello everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell: I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”

He continued with great love for the club and the city:

“I wanted to start by saying that I never imagined how this club, this city, these people, would be a part of my life. Liverpool, it’s not just a football club. It’s passion. It’s history. It’s spirit. I can’t explain it in words to anyone who is not part of this club.”

Salah also thanked the fans who embraced him from day one.

“Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you! This club will always be my home. Thank you for everything. Because of you all, I will never walk alone.”

Salah arrived at Anfield from Roma in 2017 and quickly became the heart of Jürgen Klopp’s revolution.

The announcement follows long speculation about his future, despite a contract extension last year.

The player and the club agreed it was the right time for a new look, with Salah determined to give his all in these final months. Liverpool manager Arne Slot paid his respects:

“Mo is a genius. What he did for this club is amazing. We will give everything to make his last months with us unforgettable.”

Fans have flooded social media with tributes, celebrating the striker. His legacy at Liverpool has already been seen in history as one of the greatest players ever to wear the famous red shirt.

In February, Salah was deeply saddened by the death of his grandfather, Ahmed Abdel Aziz Al Bambi, as confirmed by his sister Rabaab.

Funeral arrangements were reportedly being made in Nagrig, Egypt, although the cause of death was not disclosed.

This family tragedy happened just one day after Salah played in a game that Liverpool lost 2-1 against Manchester Citywith fans offering their condolences and support.
