Nairobi – The office of Deputy President Kindiki has denied claims that the officer arrested for robbing a foreign citizen in Kitengela was imprisoned in their office.

On Wednesday, March 25, four police officers, along with one civilian who has not yet been arrested, allegedly attacked a Congolese man, Djuma Yasin Mumbele, leaving him with neck and back injuries.

The victim, traveling from Namanga to Nairobi, was lured into the necklace sale scheme by the citizen identified as Eric.
He was persuaded to go to Kitengela to meet the supposed buyer, but when he got to the main platform, he was directed to a car with two passengers pretending to be buyers.

It is alleged that the suspects robbed the Congolese of a diamond necklace worth KSh 247,000, cash of $3,000, Euro 300 and KSh 500.
According to the report submitted at the Kileleshwa Police Station, Samuel Ng’ang’a was said to be working in Kindiki’s office.
“Information that today the following officers, namely, Lincoln Ashioya, Tom Odero Abwoga from Union Police Station in Machakos County, Samuel Gathitu Ng’ang’a of Elwak Police Station, who are in the Office of the Deputy President and Perminus Muiruri Kamau of DCI Kitengela were arrested in connection with the crime of armed robbery contrary to Section 295 as read with Section 296 (2) of the penal code through OB 140/23/03/2026,” said part of the police report.

However, the Office of the Deputy President has denied claims that one of the police officers in the office was involved in a theft incident in Kitengela.
Kindiki’s office explained that the officer was transferred to the Elwak Police Station for disciplinary issues, and has not reported.

The DP’s office denied the allegations, saying the officer had never worked at the Harambee Avenue offices or with DP Kindiki.
“I have confirmed that this officer was transferred to Elwak Police Station for disciplinary matters, and he has not reported. He is a criminal,” the DP’s office said.

In other news, a well-planned robbery targeting a senior army officer in Kitengela collapsed after security forces raided and arrested six suspects.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) disrupted the scheme following an intelligence-led operation that uncovered a criminal network serving Kenya Defense Forces personnel and civilian partners.
Authorities said the operation began on Monday, March 23, after officials received credible information about an imminent attack.
The suspects were immediately placed under close surveillance, with detectives monitoring their movements and preparations ahead of the planned robbery.
