A young woman from Githunguri, Kiambu county, is asking for help to get her beloved father a job.
Faith Wanjema shared a video on TikTok showing a sad scene where his father, Samuel Wanjema, was seen walking home after a long day of looking for work.
The video quickly touched the hearts of many online, with many sending messages of encouragement and suggesting various opportunities for Samuel to try.
Is the Kiambu girl’s father a trained driver?
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Wanjema said his father is a passenger vehicle (PSV) driver with many years of experience, but he has been struggling to find work after being unemployed for a long time.
“I grew up seeing him working as a driver, but he took a break to try various businesses that were not successful. Last year, he decided to return to driving, but he has not yet found a car or a job opportunity,” he said.
Wanjema remembered many times last year when he saw his father coming home wearing his uniform, heartbroken after losing his job.
He said it hurt his heart to see him trying so hard without success, and he decided to do everything he could to help him.
That’s when he posted the video, asking his followers to connect his father with any job opportunities.
“At first he didn’t like the idea. He was very skeptical, because it seemed like I was putting our family’s problems in public. He didn’t like it, but now he has started to accept it,” said the young woman.
Through his videos, Samuel has been finding short-term jobs, but the family is still grateful for the love and support they received online.
How to help Faith Wanjema and her father
Wanjema also set up a till number to help raise money for his father, saying that their long-term dream is to buy him a car that he can use for business.
He explained that he recently finished his studies and is looking for an internship or employment as well.
“I have studied construction and I have not yet graduated, so if I find a place to learn and use my skills, I will be very grateful,” he said.
Wanjema said his only desire is to see his father stand up again in life and succeed, while he continues to strive to serve them.
He thanked all the Kenyans who supported him in various ways, for encouraging them and suggesting job opportunities for his father.
To support Wanjema’s dream of buying a car for his father, well-wishers can contribute financially through the till number 5279685.
