A video that emerged on Tuesday, March 24, shows the former general secretary of the Jubilee Party sleeping on what appears to be a makeshift bed inside the center, covered with a blanket (duvet).

An oxygen tube is seen attached to his nose, with an IV drip running beside it, as an unknown person momentarily adjusts the flow.

The video has raised new concerns about Tuju’s condition, coming a day after police confirmed he had received treatment while in custody.

Tuju was taken to the Karen Police Station on Monday, March 23, afternoon after he was seen again following a two-day disappearance that caused concern.

He was reported missing on Saturday, March 21, along with his driver, Steve Mwanga, under circumstances that were not clear.

When he was seen again, police officers escorted him from his home in Karen to record a statement, marking a major turning point in a saga that had already drawn public attention.

Shortly after his arrest, Tuju’s legal team claimed that he was mistreated during surgery and suffered injuries.

The lawyers pressed for his immediate transfer to Karen Hospital, saying that his condition required immediate medical examination at an appropriate facility.

Instead, medical staff from Karen Hospital were sent to the police station, where they treated him inside the station.

Police officials later confirmed that the treatment was provided after Tuju complained of health problems after his arrest.

However, the emergence of a new video shows that his condition may have worsened overnight, leading to the need for oxygen support and continuous monitoring.

How did Kenyans react to Tuju’s troubles?

@ZoomAfrikapic:

“I’ve watched this several times… it hits every time. Once a powerful CS, doors opened, people listened. Now he’s sick, in a cell, just another human being. Life humbles. Power is temporary. Titles fade. What remains is how you treated people. To every politician, Serve genuinely. Lead with humanity. Because one day, power ends.. only your actions will speak for you.. Wish him quick recovery. They are not fit.”

@OmariKhomeiniKE:

“We might not have a soft spot for Tuju but the Government better act right so that nothing happens to him because of anything happens to Tuju, now that will get personal.”

@Cedo_ke:

“It’s hard to trust a politician. I remember when Gachagua was to appear in court during his impeachment, he became sick. I wonder if Tuju is doing the same thing.”

@MartinMKivuva:

“How foolish can humans be? Those tormenting Tuju were once tormented and they kept shouting to the likes of Tuju that “power is transient”.

Did Tuju lie about his capture?

Earlier, the head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation Amin Mohamed accused the former Cabinet minister of fabricating the allegations of his capture.

Amin said the investigation, supported by forensic analysis, showed that Tuju stayed at his home in Karen during the period he was reported missing.

He added that Tuju’s phone was switched off when he was still at home.
