Nairobi – The Kenya Meteorological Department has released its weekly weather forecast, warning of rain in some areas.

In a statement, Kenya Met predicted the weather that will occur from Tuesday, March 24, to Monday, March 30.
Which counties will receive rain this week?
According to the forecast, the ongoing rain is expected to continue in several parts of the country while its level is expected to decrease as the week progresses.
“Weekly Weather Forecast, March 24-30, 2026. Rain is expected to continue in several parts of the country, although the amount may decrease as the week progresses,” Kenya Met predicted.
Counties in the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and Rift Valley, which include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, PoisonousHoma Bay, Migori, and Narok, are expected to continue to receive rain.
Other counties that will receive rain during the week are Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi.
In terms of temperature, daytime temperatures above 30°C are expected in the Coast, South-East of the Lower Valley, and North-East and North-West of Kenya.
The weather forecaster estimated that cold nights (<10°C) are likely in parts of the Central Highlands and areas around Mt Kilimanjaro.
What was the weather like between March 16 and 22?
In its March 16 to 22 review, the Kenya Meteorological Department said rainfall was recorded in many parts of the country, with the highest level in the South-East Basin.
Kitaingo Rainfall Station (Makueni County) recorded the highest 7-day total: 273.1 mm and the same station also recorded the highest 24-hour rainfall: 142.3 mm on March 22.
During the period, daytime temperatures decreased in most parts of the country, with a slight increase in coastal and northeastern Kenya. The night temperature (minimum) also decreased in many places.

The Mandera Meteorological Station recorded the highest daily temperature: 39.5°C (March 17). The Nyahururu Weather Station recorded the lowest daily temperature: 6.8°C (March 16).

Which streets have residents been asked to move to?
In other news, the Water Resources Authority (WRA) issued an urgent warning to residents living below the Nairobi Dam about the imminent risk of flooding.
Citing rising water levels and continued heavy rains, WRA coordinator for Nairobi sub-region Noel Ndeti warned that the dam’s earth dam in Kibera, along the Ngong River, is at risk of leaking.
WRA urged residents and businesses downstream to be alert and move to safer areas.
Areas listed under evacuation advisory include Kibera, Nyayo Highrise, Dam Estate, Lang’ata, Nairobi West and Madaraka.
