The Gunners missed out on their first trophy in more than six years when Nico O’Reilly scored twice for City at Wembley Stadium.

It was a crushing defeat for Mikel Arteta’s side, given that they were the underdogs heading into the game. Manchester City’s inconsistent form this season, including their exit from the Champions League against Real Madridput them in a bad situation.

Now, to make matters worse for Arsenalmany players seemed to have problems and withdrew from playing for their countries during this international window.

Which Arsenal players are injured?

Gabriel Magalhaes withdrew from the Brazil squad that is expected to face France and Croatia in the United States. The Brazilian federation revealed that the defender complained of ‘pain in his right knee’.

This followed shortly after fellow defender William Saliba also withdrew from the France squad, citing a ‘left ankle injury’. Saliba has since been replaced by Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix, who has been handed his first call-up.

Eberechi Eze was previously named in the England squad by Thomas Tuchel but now his place has been taken by Harvey Barnes. Eze missed the Carabao Cup final after picking up a leg problem in the win against Bayer Leverkusen.

“We have to do another examination in six or seven days and wait and see the results. Is it a leg injury? His leg,” said Arteta.

Leandro Trossard, who played 82 minutes against Manchester City, will also not report for the international match where his Belgian team is expected to face the United States and Mexico.

The four join Martin Odegaard, Jurrien Timber and Mikel Merino, who were the only players known to be absent ahead of the Carabao Cup final. Odegaard and Timber failed to recover in time and will therefore miss out on the Norwegian and Dutch squads, respectively, while Merino is out for the rest of the season.

Arsenal’s upcoming matches

Arteta will hope the injuries to his players, especially his first-choice centre-backs, are not too serious.

The Gunners are away to Southampton in the FA Cup after the international break, before playing Sporting Lisbon in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. They will only return to the Premier League on April 11 when they play Bournemouth.

Rayan Cherki shows offensive skills

Again, Pep Guardiola was not happy after Rayan Cherki did extra training during the Carabao Cup final.

Cherki did that skill shortly after being ahead 2-0, and luckily, it didn’t repeat itself.

Arsenal defender Ben White attacked him and got a yellow card.
