Trans Nzoia: DCI Arrests 2 Suspects and 213 Stolen Phones in Intelligence Operation

  • On Sunday, March 22, two suspects were arrested in Trans Nzoia County for their involvement in a mobile phone theft spree.

Trans Nzoia – Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested two suspects linked to phone theft.

In a statement on Monday, March 23, DCI said officers from the Crime and Intelligence Research Bureau (CRIB) raided a house near the Airport Church in the Lessos area following credible intelligence information.

“Detectives from the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in Trans Nzoia County have arrested two suspects linked to the handling of suspected stolen phones following an intelligence-led operation in Lessos. Acting on credible information, officers from the Crime Investigation and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), supported by personnel from the Matisi Police Station near Lessos Airport, the DC said.

During the well-coordinated operation, detectives arrested 24-year-old Silas Wanjala, and 28-year-old Job Kiberenge Sikuku.

Detectives found 213 different types of phones and a Pandora machine suspected of being used in the development of mobile apps.

“The operation led to the arrest of Silas Wanjala (24) and Job Kiberenge Sikuku (28) who are still being held, a total of 213 phones of various types were found along with a Pandora machine thought to be used in the reprogramming of mobile phones and three HP laptops, all items have been found as ongoing exhibits and the investigation of the members is ongoing. The suspects will be brought to court after the investigation is completed,” read the statement.

The DCI expressed its commitment to dismantling organized crime networks and preventing the illegal trade in electronic devices.
