A 24-year-old woman, identified as Mary Claire, was attacked with acid while returning home from work in Nairobi.

The incident left Claire with serious facial injuries, and she was rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital.
In a video shared online, she can be heard screaming in pain after the attack, begging for water to cool her burning face.
Claire was reportedly attacked by a man later identified as Lukas Ochieng.
According to the testimony of the incident, Lukas, who was caught by the people after being attacked, allegedly confessed that he was sent to do the horrible act.
He reportedly said the attack was planned by Claire’s ex-boyfriend, leaving many in shock.
What did Mary Claire’s friend say after the acid attack?
Speaking to Citizen TV after the ordeal, Claire’s friend who is also her colleague Sarah Watiri, who was with her during the attack, narrated what happened.
Sarah, who also suffered injuries after being doused with acid, said the first thing she saw was Claire’s clothes melting.
He remembered his friend screaming in pain, asking for water to wash off the chemical that was burning his face and soaked into his clothes.
“I didn’t even see my clothes melting, but I saw Claire’s, and we were all screaming. She told me she was dying and asked for water,” he said.
Despite burns on various parts of her body, Sarah continues to recover at home, while Claire continues to be hospitalized.
Sarah’s wounds are on her arms and upper chest, and the clothes she wore that day were burned, as if sparks had been scattered on her.

The suspect of the attack is currently detained at the Kibera Police Station and is expected to appear in court on Monday, March 23.
The police have also launched an investigation to determine the essence of the crime and bring all those involved to justice.
