Kirinyaga – Former Kirinyaga senator Daniel Karaba has passed away at the age of 78.

On Monday, March 23, the governor of Kirinyaga Anne Waiguru announced the news about the sudden death of a Kirinyaga political leader and education pillar.

Karaba was respected throughout Kirinyaga County for his long service in the education sector and national politics.

He previously served as Member of Parliament for Kirinyaga Central and later as Senator for Kirinyaga (2013–2017), where he also chaired the Senate Education Committee.

Before joining politics, he built a great legacy as a teacher and school principal and served as the chairman of the Kenya Secondary School Principals Association.

In his condolences, Waiguru described Karaba as a prominent son of Kirinyaga, whose life was marked by service, humility and dedication to education.

“We have lost a prominent son of Kirinyaga, Hon. Daniel Karaba, whose life was characterized by service, humility, and a sincere commitment to education and leadership. Mwalimu Karaba built a wonderful career as a teacher, school principal and educational leader before becoming the member of parliament for Kirinyaga Central for two terms and later as a senator. I join the people of Kirinyaga and offer my condolences to the people of Kirinyaga. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Waiguru mourned.
