Police urged to collaborate with residents – Kenya News Agency

Kisii Governor Simba Arati has urged police officers to serve with humility and empathy in order to foster a culture of mutual respect and cooperation with the community members.

Speaking at Kegati comprehensive school grounds in Bobaracho ward, Kisii County during the burial of six people who perished in a tragic road accident at Kegati, Arati lauded one of the police officers, Derrick Odhiambo, who went beyond the call of duty to ensure the victims received help when the fatal accident occurred.

He noted that Odhiambo’s unwavering commitment which received the local community’s recognition should be emulated by officers across the county to strengthen security management.

The deceased died two weeks ago after a trailer reportedly lost its brakes and ploughed into them at their boda boda shade at Kegati trading centre.

Nyaribari Chache Member of Parliament Zaheer Jhanda lauded the Governor for standing with the bereaved families who lost their lives and property.

Jhanda pledged to replace five out of the 14 motorbikes that were destroyed during the accident, while the rest would be catered for through Governor Arati’s donation of Sh 1 million.

He assured the public that he will continue working closely with the Kisii county leadership to promote development activities in the region.
