The operation, carried out by the National Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse Authority (NACADA), was led by intelligence and following information from the public.
Residents reportedly condemned the high rate of marijuana abuse in the area, prompting the agency to take action.
Speaking after the raid, the Chief Executive Officer of NACADA Dr. Anthony Omerikwa explained the success of the operation and the circumstances surrounding the escape. He revealed that the residence where the consignment was found is located in a busy area, a strategic location indicating an established supply chain.

“The residence where this cargo of cannabis was found is located in a busy area, which indicates that the supply is sufficient,” Omerikwa said.
He added that the fugitive smuggler is well known to the agency and is believed to be an important dealer for vendors operating within the area. The area is of particular concern, according to the CEO, as it is home to a large number of students who live in the many hostels surrounding the residence.
Residents of the area who witnessed the operation congratulated the Authority for its decisive action. Speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, the residents claimed that the person who escaped had a good relationship and had been a source of problems for the community for a long time.
“We congratulate NACADA for attacking this man. He had a good relationship, but we are ready to support the organization. We will give information as soon as he is seen,” said one resident.
Dr. Omerikwa confirmed that the hunt for the suspect is already underway, assuring the public that the Authority will not relent in its efforts.
“The search for the suspect continues. The authorities will not relent in keeping the community safe from the effects of alcohol and drug abuse,” Dr. America said.
The operation marks NACADA’s ongoing efforts to disrupt drug networks in the region, with the agency urging the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
