The families of lovers Gustavo and Diana Mwai have appealed for help to give the young parents a dignified burial after they died in a tragic accident
The grief-stricken families announced two different burial dates and locations, while a Kiluya elder explained to TUKO.co.ke the reason for the decision
Gustavo’s family told TUKO.co.ke that the motorcyclist had only one child with Diana, who also had another child from a different relationship.

The couple died in a tragic accident on Sunday, March 15, along the Northern Bypass in the County Nairobi County

Gustavo, who was riding a motorcycle, hit a Probox that was turning, and died instantly. His wife, who was a rear passenger, was rushed to a nearby hospital, but to luck unfortunately he died while he was being treated

Where will Gustavo and Diana Mwai be buried?

The couple died just five months after having their first child, and their families are currently planning separate funerals.

The mother of two will be buried on March 25 at her home in Kiaritha village, Kerugoya, County Kirinyaga County

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Charles Wafula, Gustavo’s cousin, revealed that the motorcyclist will be buried at his parents’ home in Kitale, County Trans Nzoia County

“He will be buried at Seven Mile in Kitale. The body will leave Nairobi on April 3, and the funeral will take place on April 4,” he explained

Wafula also revealed that Gustavo only had one child, despite claims that he had two

“Diana had two children. One with Gustavo and the other with a different man. Gustavo had one child with Diana, but he was also raising his other child,” he said

According to a Kiluya elder, Wanyonyi Wafula, a woman can only be buried in her husband’s home if they were legally married and the dowry has been paid, which is why Diana will be buried away from her lover

“In the Luhya culture, a man is allowed to bury his wife or partner only if he has paid the dowry. If a woman dies and the dowry has not been paid, her family has the right to bury her unless the man’s family decides to pay the dowry after her death so that they can be given a body to bury,” he explained.

What was Diana Mwai’s last post?

The last heartbreaking post Diana Mwai shared on her X account before her death went viral after her death, with many claiming it was a sign of things to come.

Hours before her death, Diana shared a post complaining of a sore throat and muscle pain, saying she was dying.

The lawyer and motorcycle enthusiast previously also shared a post talking about motorcyclists and speeding, calling them very brave. In the comments section, netizens warned him to be careful with his speed.
