According to the hospital’s board of directors, a group of doctors is pursuing personal interests by seeking an audience with the President William Ruto.
The group that met with Ruto includes Stephen Muhudhia, Martin Wanyoike, Joel Toroitich, David Silverstein, Florence Murila, and Christine Muthoga.
The directors said that the doctors met the president in their personal capacity and were not representing the hospital.
They emphasized that the hospital is financially sound, considering its financial performance for the period 2024/25.

“Nairobi Hospital is stable. It posted KSh 12 billion in revenue and KSh 1.6 billion in liquidity reserves. These figures show the financial growth and sustainability of the hospital,” said chief executive Felix Osano.
The board urged the Nairobi House to stay out of the hospital’s affairs and allow it to function as an independent body.
The management of the hospital criticized the aforementioned doctors for bypassing the internal structures of the administration to seek the intervention of the president on issues affecting the facility.
The directors claimed that Ruto, in his capacity as a hospital warden, has no authority to influence its management.
“The activities are aimed at weakening the existing governance structures and causing uncertainty to promote, in our opinion, private commercial interests. The security guard is an appointee of the board and has no official or unofficial role in its activities,” said board chairman Barcley Onyambu.
Doctors who want government involvement in hospital management are accusing the board of falsifying membership records, citing an incident where more than 300 people were transported by bus to vote in the Annual General Meeting, while their fees were covered by a single payment of KSh 5 million.
