Kevin (not his real name) shared a post on social media showing a text message his father sent, warning him against visiting the family home.
He did not believe that the person who gave birth to him and raised him would suddenly decide that he no longer wanted anything to do with him. He wondered what could make someone deny his blood so easily as if he were a stranger.
“What do you do when the first message you read in the morning… is your own father telling you not to return to his house again? The same man who brought you into this world. The same man whose blood should run through your veins. The same man you called home. What exactly breaks between father and son with words like that to exist?” he asked.
Did the Kenyan father deny his son?
Kevin questioned whether a person can wake up one morning and decide their child is no longer theirs.
In the screenshot he shared, Kevin’s father only allowed him and his brothers to visit on Wednesday and asked them to “enjoy their lives.”
“Good morning, just a polite reminder. You, Logan, and Ray are no longer coming to my house. And if you must, come on Wednesday while I’m away. Enjoy life,” read the text from Kevin’s father.
What happened between father and son?
Kevin said the message left him heartbroken, as it was the first thing he saw after waking up.
He shared that the rejection did not start that day, but has been going on for years.
He noted on Facebook that it had been three years since he last visited their home, until last December, when he and his brothers decided to pass.
“These are years of rejection. Years of silence. Years of pretending that everything is normal when the wound has been there. When we visited him, he wasn’t even there. But somehow, a message still arrived on my phone telling me not to come. Imagine being banned from the place you used to call home,” he said.

Kevin said his intention to share the story is not to seek sympathy, but to raise awareness about boys who carry silent scars, who have had to become men without relying on the father who was supposed to guide them.
He encouraged his fellow men to be the kind of fathers they never had—fathers whose children would never be afraid to visit, and who make the home feel peaceful.
“Because a child should never plan love for Wednesday. If pain teaches us anything, then teach us this: break the cycle. Be the father you needed once,” he concluded.
