The article mentioned several politicians who were present at the national counting center at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) during the final hours of counting.
Responding to a netizen, Karua distanced himself from the allegations that he was involved in rigging the election results.
He said he openly supported the then president Mwai Kibaki but he insisted that he did not help fraud in the election or contribute to the violence that followed the disputed election.

The article also cited testimony from Nimrod Mbai, who was then a police officer attached to Mutua’s security.
Mbai said he was sidelined for a sensitive operation involving the chairman of the electoral council at the time, Samuel Kivuitu.
His job, he recalled, was to help Kivuitu get safely to the State House if chaos broke out at the counting station.
Another important person mentioned is the former editor-in-chief of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) Waithaka Waihenya.
He recalled receiving a lot of pressure from various political stakeholders on how and when the final results would be announced, with tension rising within the polling station and across the country.
How was Kibaki declared the winner in 2007?
The disclosure claimed that during the confusion at the results tabulation centre, the broadcast of the results was finally recorded in a separate room before being aired, thus paving the way for Kibaki’s hasty swearing-in at the State House that evening.
The controversial announcement sparked widespread unrest that later forced international mediation and the creation of a power-sharing government in 2008.
