Raphael Tuju Gives Food To Police Officers Who Invaded His Property: “You Are Like My Children”

Tuju was seen giving bread and cups of hot tea to the officers stationed at the disputed Dari Business Park, saying that he did not have any personal grievances against them.

“You are like my children. I don’t blame you. You are just doing your job,” Tuju told the officers.

The incident happened a few hours after officers believed to be from the Emergency Response Unit moved in and secured the property in the early hours of the morning.

One night raid on Raphael Tuju’s property

By the time Tuju spoke to the officers, more than eight hours had passed since the police first entered Dari Business Park in Karen as part of the ongoing dispute over the multi-billion shilling property.

He had earlier claimed that a large group of police officers conducted a massive operation overnight at his Karen residence.

He said that more than 50 officers descended on Dari Business Park in the prestigious Karen area of ​​Nairobi around 3am on Saturday, March 14.

According to him, the officers arrived with at least seven vehicles, some unmarked, before forcing their way into the area and taking control of the area.

The former general secretary of the Jubilee Party claimed that although some officers wore official police uniforms, others hid their faces with masks.

Tuju explained that, shortly after the incident, the officers refused to identify themselves or give reasons for their presence in the area.

In a video recorded shortly after the raid, he suggested that the officers were acting under orders from higher authorities.

He claimed that the officers told him that they were following “orders from above,” but failed to produce any documents to prove the operation.

Tuju added that the information he received showed that the orders came from very high levels, and the officers were only carrying out their duties.

He further claimed that the officers forcefully entered the area and ordered the workers working in the restaurant inside the area to leave immediately.

Tuju stressed that no court order or official papers were issued to justify the raid, which he described as illegal.

When he spoke about the incident, he said other officers were still arriving while those inside continued to stay in the area.

He also reassured his family, insisting that he was defending their business and questioning the legality of the operation.

The former cabinet minister added that he was ready to stand firm despite the major events going on in the area.

Tuju insisted that if the authorities had valid documents, they should be submitted through legal channels rather than through what he described as forced eviction.

He further revealed that the dispute regarding the property is expected to be dealt with in court soon.
