Member of Parliament for Rarieda, Otiende Amollo, has become the first member of parliament from the Luo Nyanza area to publicly console a former Cabinet Minister, Raphael Tujufollowing an intense police operation at his Karen property.

Amollo visited the Dari conflict area of Tuju Business Park hours after more than 50 armed police officers, believed to be from the much-feared Rapid Response Unit, stormed the area.

The MP’s appearance has attracted attention online, with many observers noting the silence of other MPs from the Luo Nyanza region due to the ongoing Tuju property dispute and heavy police presence in the area.
Amollo’s visit is interpreted by some as a sign of solidarity with Tuju, who previously served as Member of Parliament for Rarieda state before his appointment to the Cabinet.
Also present in the area was Ogeta, the guardian of the deceased Raila Odingawho joined others who gathered in the area following the early morning police operation.
Tuju has said that several officers arrived in the area in many vehicles and entered the area by force in what he described as an intimidation attempt linked to a property dispute worth billions of shillings.
The event has continued to generate political and public interest, especially in Nyanza, where Tuju is still a popular political figure.

Raphael Tuju recounted that his home in Karen was raided in a massive overnight raid by more than 50 police officers.
He said the group arrived around 9am in at least seven vehicles, some of which were unmarked, and forced their way into Dari Business Park and seized control of the buildings.
While some were wearing official uniforms, others covered their faces, refused to identify themselves, and claimed they were carrying out “orders from above” without presenting any documents to justify the operation.

Who sent police officers to Raphael Tuju’s property?
Tuju disclosed that the orders given to the officers came from a higher authority, stressing that they were only carrying out orders.
He further claimed that the police raided the area and immediately ordered the workers of the restaurant inside the area to leave.
Tuju condemned the raid as illegal, stressing that no court order or official papers were submitted to justify it.
He noted that more officers continued to arrive while those already inside remained at the scene, even as he assured his family that he was defending their business.
Determined to stand firm, the former Cabinet Minister said that any valid documents should be pursued through legal channels, adding that the property dispute was scheduled to be dealt with in court soon.
