Speaking to Hot96, Stanley noted that his colleague’s condition prompted him to resign, as he was accused of absconding because he stayed away from work due to health problems.

“There was this colleague of mine who had back problems, and so he chose to stay at home to recover. He thought he would be excused from staying at home due to his health problems. He was even in a wheelchair. However, what I saw happen to him is that he was later charged and detained for 42 days for running away, and later fired.

I was worried that this would happen to me, and so I talked to my wife and told her about my decision to resign to avoid getting health problems,” he said.

Stanley said he started by getting a three-month final leave, and later he made a clearance and was given a green card to officially leave the military.

However, all the money he got from his benefits ended up being used to pay off a large part of the bank loan he was servicing.

He noted that he also owed money for injuries sustained during his service.

Stanley’s life after the army

However, things did not go well for Stanley after he left the army, and he had to apply to join the Russian army due to the financial problems he faced.

“I had hoped to become a taxi driver, but that plan did not materialize. Then I applied to join the army in Ukraine online. I applied in 202. The process took three to four months, and I had an interview. I received an acceptance letter and a report letter,” he said.

Stanley, he said, the only reason he could not travel to his camp was that the Kenyan government intervened.

“I was in the last group of people who would travel to Russia, but because many Kenyans were dying in the war, travel became difficult,” he added.
