The community at the Kenyatta National Hospital is mourning the loss of one of its most dedicated caregivers, Caroline Ruguru Kirimi, a long-serving nurse whose death has left colleagues and patients deeply saddened.

In a heartfelt message, the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital led the staff and the entire medical community in paying respect to a woman whom many cite as a real example of compassion in nursing.

When did Kirimi join KNH?

According to the KNH statement, Kirimi embodied the call with grace, dedication and humanity, supporting patients and families during their most vulnerable times.

The deceased nurse joined the Kenyatta National Hospital in 1998 and served the institution faithfully for almost three decades.

During that time, he worked in several departments and departments, building a reputation as a trusted professional and compassionate presence for patients facing some of life’s most difficult times.

Quoting a well-known reflection on the profession, the CEO said: “A nurse opens the eyes of a newborn and gently closes the eyes of the dying.”

Kirimi is mourned by his colleagues at work

He added that Ms. Karimi lived up to that noble calling every day of his career, and his service will never be forgotten.

Colleagues remember her as a calm and reassuring figure in hospital corridors, the kind of nurse who listened patiently, comforted worried families and treated each patient with respect.

For many in the hospital, his death is not only the loss of a colleague but also a mentor and friend who quietly shaped the lives of those around him.
