However, Sifuna stood firm saying that she is a representative of people who are similar to her in many ways.
He then made a mockery of the speaker in a way that netizens found very funny.
The video begins with the speaker of the Senate reminding members of the seriousness of the issue under discussion.
What did Edwin Sifuna say to Amason Kingi?
“Mr. senator, we are not here for a TikTok party. We are here for something very serious.”
The senator took the statement seriously as he stood to speak and expressed his dismay.
“Mr. Speaker, there was a note from the chair that someone came here to collect TikTok videos. This is something that made me very angry. I was elected to enter this parliament to represent the people, and most of these people are like me.”
Although his argument did not please the speaker, that part of his statement made social media users very happy.
“And I remember very well two famous governors in the period from 2013 to 2022 who were creating very good content playing on social media platforms. One of them is now a Minister of the Council of Ministers (CS), and the other is the speaker of the Senate. So Mr. Speaker, how did it suddenly become a mistake to end up on social media for doing the work we do?”
People on the internet quickly understood what he meant and realized that one of the two famous governors mentioned by Sifuna is the current Kingi, whom he was talking about from the beginning.
The ironic attack was hidden in so much humor that the speaker had to refer to the rules of the parliament.
“Nairobi City Senator, you are out of order. If you read Standing Order 101, you cannot discuss the conduct of the speaker.”
