Meet the former headmaster who once taught William Ruto in Kapsabet Boys

Nandi, Kenya: Kapsabet Boys High School has celebrated its 100th anniversary, and there was a touching scene when the President William Ruto when he proudly introduced his former teacher who was also a former student of the school.

Ruto had been invited on stage to give a speech to the students and guests who attended that important day, when he introduced the person who accepted him to join the school 41 years ago.

Ruto said he joined the school in 1985 as student number 5065 and was living in the Cheruiyot dormitory in Solai House.

“In our group here is my former teacher, the person who received me at Kapsabet 41 years ago, a very good teacher. His history will not be complete if I do not recognize his contribution in giving me a place here and also many other students who were in school at that time to get an education,” said Ruto.

Mark Sing’oei, a bespectacled old man with thick white hair, calmly took the stage and shared several old memories of the school.

“I was lucky to be a part of this school in two ways; I was a former student of this school, and now I think I was the only former student who came back to be the principal. My school number was 1800, and I was lucky to be in the same dormitory as the president,” he said.

“I would like to ask the students to make good use of the opportunity they have so that they can solve the problems that will exist in the next 100 years,” he added.

Kapsabet Boys High School is one of the oldest educational institutions in Kenya, as it was established in 1925.

“I remember the classes, the laboratory, and I remember the school canteen, friendship, discipline, and the dreams that were quietly sprouting in the hearts of young people,” he said.

Ruto impressed many with his Kapsabet Boys High uniform

In the previous news, Ruto wore the uniform of Kapsabet Boys High School, and Kenyans praised him for how easily he mingled with the students.

The head of state was accompanied by Secretary General Belio Kipsang along with Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, who were also wearing the school’s uniform.

Ruto emphasized the importance of relationships in life and also explained the touching reason why he wore the school uniform.
