The accident happened when a group of students gathered near the road inside the school grounds.

According to witnesses, the students had run to watch the President’s convoy William Ruto when you were passing by the school.

How did Kapsabet students fall into the sewage tank?

In their attempt to get a better view, the students reportedly stood on top of an old sewage tank about 20 feet high.

The building could not support the weight of the students and suddenly failed, causing it to collapse inside.

Rescue efforts were immediately initiated as county disaster response teams and other emergency personnel rushed to the scene.

The injured students were quickly found and taken to the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital for immediate treatment. Hospital officials later confirmed that one of the students died shortly after arriving at the facility, while the remaining students were admitted for treatment and examination.

How did Ruto react to the news of Kapsabet students falling into the sewage tank?

The incident was confirmed by Nandi County Executive Committee Member Angeline Kirui, who was among the first responders at the scene.

The authorities have begun to assess the situation to ensure that the area is safe and that such accidents do not occur again within the school premises.

After receiving reports about the incident, Ruto stopped at the school to offer his condolences to the students, teachers, and the entire school community that was affected.

During his visit, the president gave KSh 5 million to support the new construction and improvement of the infrastructure in the institution, with the aim of enhancing safety for students.
