Police in Orlando, Florida, have arrested and charged a 46-year-old Kenyan-born nurse, Abedinecho Kyalo Katue, for allegedly sexually assaulting a vulnerable patient. Officers from the Orlando Police Department took Katue into custody last week following a months-long investigation into an incident at AdventHealth hospital on East Rollins Street.
The arrest affidavit traces the case back to January 2025. At that time, police responded to a call from the hospital after a patient reported an assault while receiving medical care.
The victim, who was recovering from a right leg amputation and had her left foot in a cast, informed investigators that Katue was the nurse assigned to her. She stated that he entered her room several times late at night and during the early morning hours. According to her account, he made comments about her looks, telling her how attractive she was and that he wanted to take special care of her.
The woman further alleged that the nurse touched and penetrated her with his finger. He reportedly claimed he was checking her genitals, even though her medical procedures had nothing to do with that area of her body.

Investigators reveal that the victim secretly recorded some of these encounters. One officer wrote:
“I reviewed the audio recordings. However, some were very low volume, and it was difficult to make out everything clearly. In one of the recordings, Katue can be heard saying, ‘I can’t remember the last time I took care of such a young, black, beautiful girl like you.’”
Authorities say the abuse worsened when the woman reported that Katue entered her room while she used a bedpan, touched her inappropriately, and told her his actions were “normal.” She also alleged that he gave her morphine through her IV without her permission to try to keep her quiet.
Following a long investigation, police issued a warrant for Katue’s arrest last year. However, they only caught him last week after an officer spotted his white Range Rover on Orange Blossom Trail and identified him as the wanted suspect.
Katue now faces several charges, including sexual battery on a physically incapacitated person and lewd or lascivious battery on a disabled individual. According to jail records, he remains in the Orange County Jail without bond while his case moves through the American legal system.
