Rodgers was reportedly found dead in an abandoned toilet that had been used as his home for about five months.

His colleagues revealed the difficult situation he was living in before his sudden death. According to them, he had not been paid his salary for over a year despite reporting to work every day.

As a result, he was evicted from the house he had rented because of the rent debt and decided to hide in an unused toilet near the health center.

“Rodgers had a house he rented, but he was evicted because he couldn’t pay the rent. He decided to find a place to hide in a nearby toilet. The facility has not been used for a while,” his colleague explained.

Why was Rodgers kicked out of the hospital?

His colleagues recalled his last moments in the hospital, saying that he arrived at work drunk and demanded that he be paid his 17 months unpaid salary.

For luck bad, he was allegedly given a letter of dismissal due to that behavior.

Cynthia Ondara, who has worked at the hospital for three years, said she also received a letter of dismissal and had to claim her 12-month salary. She noted that Rodgers was among 15 employees who received letters of dismissal.

“We reported the issue, and the case is in court. Rodgers came to claim his salary, but he was fired for allegedly being drunk while doing so. He was putting cardboard papers on the floor and sleeping on them in the toilet, where he did everything and put his clothes,” he said.

Ondara emphasized that despite his difficult life situation, Rodgers came to work every day. He asked for justice, saying what they want is their hard-earned money.

“Working without being paid is starting to look like a normal thing, and it is not right. If you die before you are paid, your relatives may never get the money,” he said.

William Bundi, another employee at the center, recounted his experience saying that he was the one who directed Rodgers when he was first hired. He revealed that his deceased brother Rodgers also used to work at the center and went through similar problems of non-payment of wages.

“His brother was also fired after demanding payment and died in similar circumstances. I ask if this is how things will be, will people continue to demand their salaries and die before they get it? I am asking the hospital management to pay its employees so that we can live with dignity,” he said.

Bundi also asked the relevant authorities to intervene to ensure that workers receive their salaries. He added that his own son was expelled from school for non-payment of fees, as he had no other source of income.
