Among the victims is Maxwell Aduma, a father whose death has left children who are orphans.
A relative told TUKO.co.ke that the children had already lost their mother several years ago, forcing their father to raise them alone
Determined to keep the family together, Aduma later brought in an assistant who eventually became their stepmother to help take care of the children.
But fate dealt the family another terrible blow when Aduma died in a road accident that also cost the lives of three schoolgirls who were on their way to school. What happened next surprised many in the community.
Neighbors say that shortly after the news of Aduma’s death arrived at home, the stepmother is alleged to have collected household items and left while abandoning the children while they were mourning their father and preparing for his burial.
Left without parents and without their grandmother, who had also passed away earlier, the children now face an uncertain future.
“This is very painful. The children had already lost their mother and now their father is gone. They had no parent and grandmother,” said one resident, trying to explain the tragedy.

The story has evoked deep sympathy throughout the community, with neighbors describing the children as innocent victims of circumstances beyond their control.
Community members are now asking people of good will, leaders and local authorities to intervene and help the children as they face the sorrows and bad conditions of life without their parents.
Meanwhile, the victims of the accident, whose bodies were kept at the Kaimosi Friends Hospital mortuary, were buried at the weekend.
