Did Odhiambo reject Ruto’s nomination?
In 2024, Odhiambo officially rejected the nomination of the President William Ruto to join the task force intended to review the country’s public debt.
LSK said that the creation of the task force was unconstitutional, as the responsibility of reviewing public accounts and debt legally falls under the Office of the Auditor-General.
In a statement, the party emphasized that the executive government should not use public resources to create committees that usurp the responsibilities of constitutionally existing offices.
Therefore, the LSK Council decided that neither their president nor any member of the party will participate in the task force to protect the rule of law.

He won against his closest rivals, Peter Wanyama and Mwaura Kabata, in a process supported by IEBC in nearly 40 cities.
In his victory speech, Kanjama outlined the leadership’s agenda aimed at strengthening the rule of law, protecting the independence of the courts, and improving the welfare of lawyers.
