The change was confirmed in a statement issued by the leader of the Azimio coalition Kalonzo Musyokawho said the union is determined to reform its leadership following a joint meeting of the Union Council and the General Council of the National Union.
What changes were made in the Declaration?
According to the statement, the meeting decided to remove Junet as the Leader of the Resolution Parliamentary Group in the National Assembly and replace him with South Suba Member of Parliament Caroli Omondi.
“The meeting also decided to suspend the appointment of Junet Mohamed as the Leader of the Union of Resolution Parliamentary Group and in the National Assembly and appoint Caroli Omondi as the Leader of the Parliamentary Group of the Union of Resolution and in the National Assembly immediately,” Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo added that the change in leadership was made because some people were no longer active members of the higher decision-making bodies of the union.
He added that the One Kenya United Declaration Party had convened the meeting and agreed that some people had stopped being members of the two bodies after taking public offices or joining opposing political alliances.
Among those listed as having ceased to be members of the Resolution Council were Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers for Mines Ali Hassan Joho, an elected Member of Parliament Sabina ChegeAbdi Noor Omar Farah, and Junet.
The union also named several people who were removed from the General Council of the National Union of Resolution.
