FA Cup Quarter Final Draw: Manchester City Fall to Liverpool

Manchester City have been handed a tougher draw in the FA Cup quarter-finals after being held to a draw by Liverpool at home
Pep Guardiola’s side will now have to face Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea in a short period of time in three different competitions
Defending champions Crystal Palace, who beat Manchester City in the final, were eliminated from the competition in the third round

2026 FA Cup quarter-final draw

The quarter-final draw took place on Monday evening before West Ham United’s game against Brentford.

Chelsea legend and Liverpool Joe Cole joined Manchester City legend Joe Hart in organizing the draw.

Manchester City will meet Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium, and prepare a very good game of Round 8. Pep Guardiola’s team has already beaten the Premier League champions who finished this season at home and away.

City beat Newcastle United in the fifth round thanks to two second-half goals from Omar Marmoush, while Liverpool got revenge against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

League Leaders Arsenal away to Southampton, while Chelsea face the biggest story of the season so far in League One side Port Vale.

Arsenal beat Mansfield 2-1 in the previous round after Eberechi Eze came off the bench to score a surprise goal, while Ryan Stewart scored a last-minute penalty to see Southampton qualify at Fulham’s expense.

Chelsea struggled to a 4-2 extra-time win over Wrexham, while quarter-final opponents Port Vale stunned Premier League side Sunderland.

“Maybe we weren’t at the level because it was a second ball game. There were a lot of matches, and we didn’t show enough to force our strength. We have to accept it, but it’s not easy – I’m very disappointed. I feel sorry for our fans because they’ve traveled to support us and we didn’t give them the strength to make a difference,” said Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris via the club’s website.

Will Pep Guardiola be there during the Carabao Cup final?

Guardiola was handed a two-match ban after picking up his sixth yellow card of the season in the win over Newcastle United.

He will now miss this weekend’s Premier League game against West Ham and the FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool.

Despite the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal before the Liverpool game, the Spanish coach will be available for the game, as the ban only applies to FA and Premier League games.
