A family from Gatundu North is in pain and shock after their 25-year-old son, a Kenya Defense Force (KDF) soldier, allegedly killed his wife just hours after the two took romantic photos.

Daniel Mburu, who was serving in Samburu County, is said to have killed his wife, Eunice Waruguru, 28, before shooting himself.

Speaking to Kameme TV, the family of the soldier KDF it said the two got into a relationship three years ago and that, although they had problems, they always loved each other and enjoyed traveling together.

“We were saddened to receive the sad news. We were told that Daniel Mburu and his wife were dead. We were told that the incident happened at midnight on Sunday. They were not angels, and so yes, there were problems here and there. However, the issues were not serious. I am surprised by this,” his father said.

The family said they were heartbroken by the news, adding that they did not think Mburu, who they described as a quiet person, could do such a thing.

The information shared shows that on Friday, March 6, a day before their deaths, the couple took romantic photos, where they expressed their love for each other.

In pictures going viral on social media, the couple’s photo shoot had a traditional Kikuyu theme, based on their attire.

Their wide smiles, public displays of affection and warmth came through in their photos, not knowing that those photos would be some of their last moments together.

“Since they started dating three years ago, I never saw them fight. They were always in love and traveling to Naivasha for fun times. I can’t believe this happened,” another family member said.

The two have left behind a three-year-old child.

Kenyans have mourned the couple, with many encouraging the couple to choose peaceful ways to resolve their domestic disputes.

In other news, the Makueni family mourned after a husband and wife were found dead.

Taking to social media, bereaved relatives and friends wrote touching condolences, heartbroken by the deaths of their two dear relatives, and shared the last moments they had with them.
