‘Relationship of Equals’: Ruto Says UDA-ODM Alliance Win-Win for Both Parties

President William Ruto affirmed that his alliance with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) centers on fairness and shared success. He explained that the two sides built this partnership on a foundation of trust and mutual growth.

“Our relationship with ODM is going to be a relationship of equals,” Ruto said.

The president pointed out that Oburu Odinga now leads the party and pledged his full commitment to the pact. Ruto also mentioned that they designed the cooperation so that both parties see real results.

“The party of ODM, under the leadership of Oburu. I did commit that we are going to be faithful to our relationship,” he said. “It is going to be a relationship of equals; it is going to be a relationship with a win-win outcome.”

During his Sunday visit to Siaya, the president addressed the public and highlighted a shift in how the nation views its younger generation. He argued that while people often label the youth as a source of national trouble, their skills and energy actually provide the answers to Kenya’s hurdles.

“They are the assets that can turn Kenya into a first-world economy. It is on this basis that we have deliberately put in place measures to empower our youth and create gainful employment for them,” he said.

The president officially launched the Siaya Community Digital Hub in Bondo before speaking directly to local traders and residents. He noted that the government is actively creating paths for young people to use their innovation and talent to drive the economy forward.

Ruto also confirmed that the broad-based government, a partnership between his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), will release a formal achievement report on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. He extended an open invitation to all citizens, specifically calling out critics and “naysayers” to tune in and review the progress.

“We know where we want to take this country. We have executed the 10-point agenda, and we have a report to the members of our political parties and to the people of Kenya of what has been done, what has been achieved in devolution, what has been achieved in inclusion, what has been achieved in the fight against corruption, what has been achieved in making government effective, and what has been achieved in making sure that we deal with the challenges that came with demonstrations and all the other issues.”
