Kenyan Accountant Who Criticized Government Online Disappears, Family Fears Kidnapping

Kiambu, Kenya: A family in Ngecha is worried after their son known as Samuel Ng’ang’a Mwangi disappeared a few hours after talking to his wife at work.

Ng’ang’a who works as an accountant in a Thika Road company, is reported to be a strong critic of the President’s administration William Rutowith the most recent case being how he criticized the government for dismissing prison officers in battle fatigues instead of ceremonial clothing.

“He disappeared on February 27; we went to his work and saw where he entered, but they did not show us where he signed. They refused to give us the CCTV images of the day he was at work,” said his wife.

On Friday, Ng’ang’a left for work in the morning, and later in the afternoon he had a short conversation with his wife. Later calls and text messages went unanswered.

His family suspects he may have been abducted for his criticism of the government on social media, where he advocates accountability.

“His Facebook posts are critical of the government, and according to me, that’s the reason for his problem,” his father said.

The 36-year-old accountant’s wife is now asking about her husband’s safety, as they have been looking for him everywhere, including the City Mortuary.

“We have two children, one in second grade and the other in kindergarten, and I am also eight months pregnant. I am asking the government why they have taken her at this time, I really need her,” he said.

Activist Mwabili Mwagodi also weighed in on the issue and said that they went to his place of work but were not given CCTV or important information.

Kenyans saving a man from being kidnapped

In the previous case, there was drama in town Nakuru after the Kenyans intervened when the men were trying to ‘kidnap’ a young man in broad daylight.

As can be seen in the video clip, the young man is seen surrounded by suspected torturers, who had handcuffed him, and a few minutes later, the public began to demand his release.
