Before the president’s speech, the Sportpesa family paid their respects. His widow thanked Kenyans for their prayers and support.

“Before I say anything else, I want to thank the leaders who are here today. In this difficult period, you stood with us. Your presence, prayers and support you showed to our family gave us strength when we felt weak. We may not be able to thank you individually, but your compassion will remain forever in our hearts.” he said.

He mourned his wife as the best father and husband who protected his family and made sure they got all their needs.

“He was not only my husband; he was my best friend, mentor, guardian, and the greatest blessing God gave me. He was always by my side with love, patience and strength. He loved us in a way that made us feel safe and appreciated. I will forever cherish the laughter that was in our home and the challenges we faced. He was an exceptional father and husband. Our children embraced him with pride. Although his journey is over, his spirit and his teachings will always continue to guide us.”
