At least two people have been confirmed dead and four others injured after a trailer lost direction and hit a bodaboda shed in Kegati area in Kisii county.

The accident on Friday, March 6, in the middle of the day happened at the busy Kegati Bodaboda Stand, where several motorcyclists were hiding due to the heavy rain that lashed the area.
Witnesses said the victims were inside the shed when the trailer reportedly hit a parked car before turning around and entering the building.
Pictures from the scene that TUKO.co.ke took a look at, were very scary and showed the severity of the accident, with damaged steel, damaged motorcycles, and residents gathered around the wreckage.

Police officers rushed to the scene and struggled to control the large crowd that had gathered as eager residents and motorists tried to see the outcome.
The situation caused a temporary traffic jam along the busy road as officials worked to clear the debris and allow emergency teams to reach the victims.
How did the Kisii accident happen?
According to information from the leadership of Kegati boda boda operators, the sad incident happened shortly after noon.
The chairman of the Kegati Bodaboda Forum, Hezbon Mochere Ondieki, confirmed the details of the accident and the casualties.
“I am very saddened to announce that today at about 12:00 in the afternoon, a fatal accident occurred at the Kegati Bodaboda Platform. Due to heavy rain, many riders and the public were hiding inside the bodaboda booth,” Ondieki said.
He explained that the trailer hit the car parked on the platform first before the driver lost control of the heavy truck.
According to the chairman, three people lost their lives at the scene, revealing their identities and home locations.
“Unfortunately, the truck hit a car parked on the platform and then lost control, and hit a hut where people were hiding from the rain. Sadly, three people lost their lives: Gilbert Mogoko from Nyanko, Mzee Makori (Bwebitonga) from Nyamemiso, and Edwin obonyo from Esamba,” he added.
Where were the victims of the Kisii accident taken?
Ondieki further confirmed that four other victims were injured in the accident, with some suffering major injuries while others sustained minor injuries.
The injured were rushed to the Kisii Referral and Training Hospital (KTRH) for treatment while emergency personnel and the public worked together to rescue those stuck in the wreckage of the ship.
“Four others were injured in the accident, while some sustained major injuries and others minor injuries, and were rushed to KTRH – Kisii for treatment,” Ondieki disclosed.

The accident has left the Kegati boda boda community in mourning as their colleagues and friends struggle to accept the sudden loss of their fellow riders.
Ondieki said the management of the platform and fellow operators were standing with the affected families during the difficult period.
“I, together with my fellow boda boda operators from Kegati, send our condolences to the families and friends of our colleagues during this difficult period. May God give them strength and comfort as they mourn their loved ones,” he said.
He also expressed hope that those injured in the accident will recover soon, revealing that they were cooperating with the authorities to help determine the cause of the tragic incident.

Elsewhere, popular social media personality and biker, Orowole Kolapoz, popularly known online as Kola Onifoto, died after a fatal road accident.
The accident reportedly happened on Sunday, March 1, and left him with serious injuries.
Emergency personnel are said to have rushed to the scene and rushed him to the emergency unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps at 7UP in Ojota.
He was later transferred to the University of Lagos Teaching Hospital in Idi-Araba for specialized treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical staff and pleas from online supporters, he succumbed to his injuries early Monday, March 2.
