Johanna Ng’eno: Kalenjin musicians pay tribute to the late MP with music

  • The late Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr Constituency, Johana Ng’eno popularly known as Ngong, was recognized for being a brave advocate for her community
  • He was also a sponsor and an important pillar of the Kalenjin music industry, often attending the musicians’ festivals and concerts.
  • Together, Kalenjin artists have released a memorial song to honor their benefactor, a work that has touched the hearts of many people on the internet.

Kenyan politician Johana Ng’eno died in a tragic helicopter crash on February 28 in Chepkiep in Nandi County.

The helicopter allegedly crashed into trees while flying at low altitude in bad weather. It burst into flames immediately upon impact, and all six occupants died.

Shortly before the accident, Ng’eno was with his constituents in Trans-Nzoia County and Nandi, attending the celebration of musician Kim Kim’s 35 years in the music industry.

His funeral is scheduled for Friday, March 6, at his home in Emurua Dikirr.

Ng’eno loved and supported the Kalenjin artists, and although some of them have released their own memorial songs, others have joined together to release one song with strong emotions.

The project has been directed by artists such as Mwalimu Kendagor, Justus Tuno, Cathy Komen, Vivian Kosgey, Mr Israel, Angella Kerebei, Sunami Beiby, MC Max, MC Mr T, and Boaz Limo, among many others.

The song called Lala Salama, featuring 50 artists, was released to honor their benefactor who they loved very much.

“Johana Ng’eno, rest in peace. Sleep well… The Kalenjin are crying saying rest in peace, the country is crying…”
