Supercomputer Predicts Premier League Winner After Manchester City Drop Points

  • Opta has updated its 2025/26 Premier League title predictions after Arsenal moved seven points clear at the top

  • Arsenal have eight games left, while Manchester City still have nine games left in the title race

There were new changes in the race for the Premier League title after Manchester City losing points for the first time in five games.

Pep Guardiola’s side were held to a two-point draw by Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium to leave Arsenal seven points ahead.

Relegation-threatened Nottingham twice pulled City back to earn crucial points in their battle to avoid relegation. Antoine Semenyo’s hot streak continued, but Morgan Gibbs-White equalized at the other end with a bold backheel.

That result, along with Arsenal beating Brighton and Hove Albion, removed the advantage that Guardiola’s side had in the title race. They are now seven points behind, having played one game less.

Opta predicts the winner of the Premier League

Opta’s supercomputer has now increased Arsenal’s chances of winning the league to 93.6% while Manchester City’s has dropped to 6.4%.

No other team has been given a chance, while the two teams are expected to take the championship outright.

“There are still]many games to play, one less,” the boss said after the match. “Now it’s Newcastle (in the FA Cup) and I’m always thinking about what’s next. If we analyze then, overall it was a good performance and there were a lot of good things. Of course, we have things we can improve, but overall, very good,” said the aggressive Guardiola after the game via the club’s website.

Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta, was proud of his side’s 1-0 victory over Brighton. The Gunners had to buckle under pressure for most of the game, but held on to avoid many points.

“It’s a big win. We knew how difficult it was going to be. We’re coming back from a very tough game with a lot of energy, with players going over the line in every game, struggling, not being able to train and to come here and get the result we got, I think it’s amazing.”

Supercomputer predicts the winner of the Champions League

In a related report, Opta’s supercomputer predicted who will win the Champions League after the Round of 16 draw was completed.

In addition to the match between Chelsea and PSG, the round will also serve Manchester City against Real Madrid.

Arsenal have the best route to the final after all the winners since 2016 were placed on the same side of the draw.
