In recent remarks, Orengo suggested that Raila’s death was not normal, hinting at the possibility of foul play.

Was Raila Odinga killed?

In a radio interview on Thursday morning, March 5, the county boss claimed that the former ODM leader was flown to India against his will.

He claimed that Raila was taken to special hospitals linked to unknown people indicating that his life may have been cut short.

“I said this with a heavy heart, and I have to respect the family’s feelings. Therefore, I could not say everything that I think. When the time is right, I will try to say it a little louder. But I say, if you look at the situation around Raila when he was removed from Kenya, he did not go to India of his own free will. I think he was forced to go to India and in some institutions with some people about whom there are many questions that should be asked,” said Orengo.

Orengo added that the reason given for Raila’s death did not match the information known to the public, pointing out that the lack of an investigation of the death makes the explanation suspicious.

“And, you know, now we don’t have the autopsy report, but if you look at all the diseases that Raila had, which were known to the public, it is very clear that what caused his death had nothing to do with the diseases he had. So I believe there was some interaction, and if a proper investigation is done, the truth will emerge,” he said.

The reason Orengo sees Raila’s death as unusual

Orengo indicated that Raila’s death could be an assassination organized by the government, referring to other cases of leaders who died under suspicious circumstances.

He mentioned the killing of a former minister during the Moi era, Robert Ouko, and said the government tried to hide the truth.

Considering Raila’s honor and status, Orengo said his death must be thoroughly investigated, and the results published to the public to get clarification.

“I say this because I was involved in the case, the investigation, for my friend George Captain. I was a family doctor for Mutula Kilonzo Senior. I attended the trial of Ouko’s murder. And sometimes even professional staff say this is what happened, it needs proof. When Ouko passed away, someone claimed, and these were government people, that he committed suicide… The country has been lulled into accepting Raila’s death as natural, but I say we need to look at the details,” he said.

Further investigation revealed that he suffered from diabetes, kidney problems, DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) in the right leg, and a history of frequent loss of consciousness.

Emergency measures including CPR and placement of an IVC to prevent blood clotting were taken to save his life.

His body was brought back home to Kenya by plane Kenya Airways and received the next morning at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Due to his status, Raila was given a state funeral by order of the President William Ruto.
