The embattled ODM secretary general has been leading a group of ODM rebels in meetings across the country, spreading their agenda against the President’s administration William Ruto.
In the political activities of the group, allegations emerged that they were being sponsored by Uhuru to disrupt ODM, whose leadership was seen to be attracted by President William Ruto.
But clarifying how Linda Mwananchi’s campaigns are funded, Sifuna denied Uhuru’s involvement in the campaigns, revealing that they collect resources as members of the group to carry out their political campaigns.

He said their strategy of running low-cost campaigns makes it easy for them to manage their activities from their own pockets.
The senator revealed that their meetings will not cost more than KSh 500,000.
“For example, when I want to go to Kitengela, what do I need? For example, when we went to Kitengela, we held our meeting on the road. The equipment I need there is a car that carried me and a sound system,” he said.

Sifuna added that friends and good Samaritans also intervene to support their activities.
According to him, their message and their political cause resonates with the public, who reciprocate by providing material support and promising more.
“We are also supported by good Samaritans and friends. For example, our platforms are given by people who were close to the late Raila Odinga. So they don’t pay us commercial rates. They would charge us KSh 500,000; we have more than 20 MPs, many MCAs and others. Personally, I give KSh 50,000, and with all that number, we collect enough money,” Sifuna added.

“Some are giving us materials and equipment for free. The truck we did a road show in Kakamega was given to us for free. When you call people, you will be surprised. People have these assets somewhere, ready to give,” the senator said.
Sifuna said their opponents in ODM were interested in calling their movement by making it political.

According to Sifuna, they do not need a sponsor when their agenda is clear and speaks to the hearts of the public.
“These are our friends, not Uhuru. Kenyans are responding to our call, and therefore, support is guaranteed. Many are overwhelming us with support. People are afraid here that politics is expensive. It all depends on the goodwill you have for the welfare of the people,” he said.
Why did Edwin Sifuna stop Linda Mwananchi’s meetings
Meanwhile, Sifuna recently announced that Linda Mwananchi’s caravan will suspend its activities until after the holy month of Ramadan ends.
Speaking in Kakamega on Saturday, February 21, Sifuna explained that he had received a request from the Muslim community to suspend meetings during the holy month of Ramadan.
He noted that the team will resume its activities in Mombasa as the first venue once the fasting period is over.
The suspension comes after four meetings, starting kiss on February 8, followed by Kitengela on February 15, and later Kakamega and Vihiga counties on February 21.
