The MCAs said the alleged pressure to remove the members of parliament from power was ill-timed and overdue, especially after Parliament recently approved the Sh80 billion Partnership Agreement between the national government and the Nairobi County Government.
According to the MCAs, the agreement unanimously approved by Parliament is expected to open major infrastructure and service delivery projects aimed at transforming Nairobi into a globally competitive city.
“The Nairobi City County Assembly unanimously approved the partnership agreement yesterday, demonstrating our collective commitment across the political divide to prioritize the interests of Nairobi residents,” Imwatok said while reading the statement.
The coalition called for political stability to allow both levels of government to implement the development agenda.
“Now is the time to move from political rhetoric to implementation, from division to development, and from competition to service delivery,” the statement added.
MCA also quoted guidance from the late leader Azimio Raila Odingasaying they support stability in Nairobi’s leadership and believe Governor Sakaja should be allowed to complete his role.
“We strongly reject any attempt to create unnecessary noise or disrupt the leadership of the city at this critical time when Nairobi is on the threshold of historic development,” Imwatok said.
