A Homa Bay woman will seek justice after surviving an attack by her mother-in-law

Millicent claimed her mother-in-law attacked her with a sharp object at home, and she barely survived the attack that happened on Monday, February 2.

The mother of three gave a detailed account of every step of what happened, sharing the details of that terrifying day.

“He stabbed me in the chest. I was lying on a chair when he attacked me. I woke up bleeding profusely. I struggled until I reached the road, where I found a boda boda driver who rushed me to the hospital. The doctors could not treat me immediately, so they prepared an ambulance to take me to Homa Bay Hospital. I stayed there for four days. On the fourth day I went to the police station to collect the P3 form, then I returned to the hospital and later again to the police station. I gave the police all the documents they needed,” he said.

Millicent suspects released on bail

Millicent said the police had promised to arrest six suspects but only arrested three.

Among those arrested were his mother-in-law and her two children, a boy and a girl, while three other suspects are said to have not yet been found.

“They were arrested on Friday, February 6, but the next day I found out they had been released. The officer told me that they each paid KSh 10,000, saying the law allows that. He assured me that we will still go to court and that a date will be set. In fact, he said my mother-in-law will inform me of the date,” he continued.

Millicent loses the original documents

In court, Millicent said she was told to go home because her file was being sent to the prosecutor and she would be notified later.

Not satisfied, he followed up on his own to make sure his case was handled properly.

“When the prosecutor saw me, he said he was just waiting for the suspects. Then I went to the county commissioner, who directed me to go back to the police station. When I arrived at the station, the officer handling my case was not there. He had taken my P3 form and hospital documents and only gave me a copy.
