This is after it was found that part of the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) had obtained enough signatures to submit a motion to demand that he be removed from power.
What disturbed the presentation of the motion to remove Sakaja from power?
The MCAs, led by the Deputy Minority Leader and South B MCA Waithera Chege, along with Baba Dogo MCA Godfrey Majiwa, announced that they are ready to formally submit a motion for removal from power.
During a press conference on Tuesday, March 3, the MCA revealed that the process stopped after the Secretary of the County Assembly failed to appear to receive the documents.
Speaking after the Parliamentary Business Committee sat, Waithera said the members had planned to sign the notice of removal, but could not continue due to the absence of the clerk.
“I want to thank the Nairobi MCAs for approving the proposed partnership agreement between the Nairobi County Government and the National Government by a majority vote,” he said.
He added that in addition to the cooperation agreement, the MCAs had planned to present documents for removal from power.
Waithera explained that plans were underway to deliver the documents, revealing that they would deliver them by 6am on Wednesday, March 4.
“We also had another agenda, to present the signatures of removal from power in front of the Nairobi Governor’s Clerk. Unfortunately, we could not do that. The Clerk was nowhere to be seen. However, the Speaker has promised us that tomorrow by four o’clock in the morning we will be able to present the motion before the Clerk. We were ready to present the arguments and explanations, but after the activities of the Parliament were completed, the Clerk disappeared,” he added.
What are the charges against Sakaja?
According to the Deputy Minority Leader, the motion has 22 accusations against the head of the county in crisis.
However, he refused to reveal the details, insisting that the details will be made public once they are officially presented before the Speaker.

Until it is presented before the Speaker, then it will be a public document. We have enough signatures for the first round. We cannot mention the figures now until the Secretary officially receives the document.
“We have many signatures. We have 22 accusations against the governor, which I cannot show now. Until it is presented before the Speaker, then it will be a public document. We have enough signatures for the first round. We cannot mention the figures now until the Secretary officially receives the document,” he said.
Waithera further explained that the procedure requires the Secretary to verify and review the signatures before sending the documents to the Speaker’s office for further action.
The ward representative stressed that only then will the argument be officially recognized before Parliament.

How did the previous attempt to remove Sakaja hit the rock?
The events marked a new impetus in the political process that has re-emerged months after an earlier attempt to oust him stalled.
At least five months ago, the MCAs had initiated a similar process, but the plan was shelved following high-level political interference.
At that time, the President William Ruto he met MCAs supported by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) at the Presidential Palace and warned them against following his removal from power.

The meeting, chaired by veteran politician Fred Gumo and later attended by Sakaja, ended with an agreement to withdraw the motion, with insiders warning that the removal could destabilize the capital.
