What did the Kenyan man say to his father at the funeral?
“Even as the preacher said we should go to church every Sunday, Father, you need to go and repent, because everything you did to Mother is worse than what the devil can do to us as humans,” he said, while the mourners clapped in support.
The sad man claimed his father stopped the ambulance carrying his mother from entering the hospital.
“I’m not here to please anyone; I’m just talking about what really hurts my heart. You hired people to prevent that from happening. Father, go and repent,” he shared.
He admitted that he still respected his father, adding that it was his responsibility to learn from him while also questioning his actions whenever he felt they were wrong.
For him, naming his father publicly was a way of holding him accountable, using the principle of ‘agree to disagree’.
Netizens are commenting on a man who scolded his father at a funeral
Commentators indicated that loving and respecting a spouse ensures a happy and grounded family and prevents children from enduring trauma.
Kalisto Mc’Omondi:
“There are many hidden things in marriage that children will not understand until they experience it themselves. As my son, I would not question the difference between my parents.”
Rita Orony:
“The family needs therapy and healing sessions for the pain to go away… it’s going to take time; it’s not easy.”
Christopher Ondiek:
“That speech may have pleased many people, but it may have destroyed the only chance of reconciliation. He could have discussed it privately within the family. Examine the boy in the next five years and take part again.”
Jaber Ma Katandi:
“The best way to love your children like a man is to love only their mother. Your home will be happy, your children your foundation, and in return, they will praise you wherever they go.”
Jason Kabuye:
“You don’t embarrass your father in public like this. There are always family members, uncles, aunts, who deal with such things. Boy, don’t disrespect your father; that’s where your blessings begin.”
