UDA MP Tells Oburu’s ODM Wing To Completely Forget Ruto’s Deputy Seat: “It’s Kindiki’s”

Member of Parliament for Molo, Kimani Kuria, has told leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) that the position of deputy president should remain with the current office holder, Kithur Kindikiamid ongoing political cooperation between ODM and the ruling party.

ODM leaders, led by the Siaya Senator Oburu Odingahave shown that the party is looking forward to the position of deputy chief as it is working with the government under a comprehensive plan.

Speaking on Friday at St. Joseph’s Comprehensive in Molo Ward, Kuria, a member of parliament for the Democratic Union (UDA), said the DP seat is already occupied and should not be discussed politically.

He asked the Minister of Energy and Petroleum Opiyo Wandayi to plead with the ODM camp to stop chasing the DP seat.

“Our minister, we are sending you to our brothers in ODM. We have welcomed you to our home, giving you the Ministry of Finance and Energy, we have given you the Attorney General. Now that you have entered our living room, now you want to come to the room with the current name you want to be deputy president in 2027,” Kuria said.

“The DP seat by charity belongs to Kithure Kindiki. Please ask for something else because the DP seat belongs to Kindiki,” he added.

The remarks were made during the launch of development projects in Molo, including wells that use solar energy to increase the availability of clean water, the handover of a three-class building built by the Kenya Pipeline Company Foundation, and the installation of electricity poles and transformers for home and business electricity.

Wandayi chaired the event, which was also attended by Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, Deputy Governor David Kones, and other local leaders.

Despite political sentiments, Kuria emphasized unity in service delivery.

“We are committed to working with all leaders at all levels to bring development to our Molo people,” he said.

His remarks add to the growing political debate about ODM’s role in state politics and succession as the country shifts focus towards the 2027 general election.

Will ODM lobby for Ruto’s re-election?

The party is currently deeply divided over Ruto’s re-election in the next election.

Although Oburu’s group seems to accept Ruto’s ambition, the group led by the controversial secretary-general Edwin Sifuna has vowed not to allow the party to promote Ruto.

The group loyal to Sifuna says that ODM should nominate its presidential candidate as it has done in all elections since its inception.

However, Oburu’s side says the party is doing what was left by its long-time leader, the late Raila Odinga.
