On Wednesday, February 26, Wavinya prepared what he called the county speech, giving information to the leadership and voters about the ongoing projects.

“I sincerely thank the residents of Machakos County who volunteered to follow the State of the County speech outside the Machakos County Assembly buildings, as well as those who followed it through local news stations and various social media platforms.

I really appreciate your support and I promise to continue working hard for the welfare of the people of Machakos and the development of our county,” he wrote later.

Did Wavinya Ndeti struggle to study English?

However, the speech was not smooth. The clip shows Wavinya stuttering and mispronouncing English words.

“Mr. Speaker and honorable members. My vision of modern administrative centers is coming true. We have approved websites for world-class institutions, including ultrasound – sorry,” he apologized.

He said he mentioned “ultrasound” because he was thinking about the hospital.

“Ultra… ultramodern football…” he said before muttering, unable to read the next word.

Then he looked confused for a moment.

He stopped the speech to try to interpret the words in front of him while looking at them carefully.

“Decentralised…” he said but got stuck again.

“Madam Speaker,” he started again, but stopped and sifted through his papers.

He found another part of the speech and continued reading, but the same situation happened again.

“The Department of Works has been operating from a condemned building in demoted… demotivated…” he read before suddenly getting stuck again.

Then he looked up, looking disappointed but smiling, and drank water as the crowd applauded him.

In the comments section, many social media users were surprised by his English challenges, while others recalled his famous saying “yaliyo ndwele si pite,” where he mixed up the correct phrase “yaliyo ndwele si pite.”

Elsewhere, entrepreneur Sammy Kioko responded to allegations from the Machakos County government that he was tarnishing the name of Wavinya.

Kioko said he is demanding KSh 19 million for the embroidery work he did for the county. After failing to get the governor’s attention, he set up camp outside his office.

The county denied the debt, saying there was no contract and claiming Kioko was not a registered distributor. Kioko also shared documents to support his claims.
